The Greater Good - Volume 1, Issue 3
“There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about."
- Margaret J. Wheatley
As we look into the future and the year 2021, we can't help but be optimistic. You see, we recently certified our 50th Benefit Corporation for Good in the state of New York. That brings the total to 50 (actually 51 now) committed small businesses who believe in making a difference while making a profit.
Their practice of the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit means good things for their employees. For their community and environment. And for their business growth.
As the subject line for this newletter stated, they share 3 indisputable traits.
They know about the about the power of diversity and inclusion in growing their business. They know that standing up for social justice issues means standing up for all their stakeholders. And they know that a greener planet not only means sustainability for them but for their grandchildren as well.
If being part of such a change in the world is important to you, please reach out to us. We're more than happy to get on a call and answer your questions. Or send you some links to engaging posts that help tell you more about what being a certified Benefit Corporation for Good is all about.
Happy New Year!

Now's the Best Time to Support Small Businesses We’ve heard often, “small businesses are the backbone of our country.” From small manufacturing companies to coffee shops and retail businesses to restaurants and more – small businesses employ thousands of people. They generate more than half of the country’s private gross domestic product. In addition, 97 percent of exporters are small businesses with innovative products spanning the world. And they help build communities.
5 Ways for Small Businesses to Meet UN Sustainable Development Goals Many small businesses find the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to fight climate change overwhelming. After all, trying to meet these 17 worthy goals can seem challenging for the small business leader who fills so many different roles. But when whittled down to five simple action steps that same small business leader can see how easy it is to join the fight to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. 1. Choose the goals you want to focus on. Click below to get all 5 steps.
How 2 Wine Afficionados Uncorked Beaverton's Sustainable Wine Bar Angela and David Anderson know a thing or two about grape juice for adults. You see, the two of them have been involved in the Oregon wine business enjoying noteworthy pinot noirs and other delectable wines from the region. They’ve also helped design engaging websites for some the state’s finest wineries. All while becoming one of the first Oregon Benefit Companies believing in and practicing the Triple Bottom Line of People, Planet and Profit. When they founded Syndicate Wine Bar in the second half of 2019, they brought that passion and sustainable leadership to their wonderful wine bar.
