The Greater Good - Volume 5, Issue 1

“Every year you make a resolution to change yourself. This year make a resolution to be yourself.”
-Unknown

Every new year, I've made it a habit to reflect and answer some essential questions. The most important is usually this one:

What kind of leader am I?

After all, the kind of leader I am has major implications on the kind of business and community I'm building.

This year I got a little help.

Hubert Joly, Harvard Business School Professor and former CEO of Best Buy, says in a 2022 HBR article that there are 7 important questions to answer if you want to be a transformative leader:

  1. Have you decided what kind of leader you want to be?

  2. How would you describe your purpose?

  3. How would you describe your role?

  4. What are you doing to create an environment in which others can thrive and flourish?

  5. What are you serving?

  6. What values define you?

  7. Are you doing your best to be approachable, authentic and vulnerable?

So I invite you to go ahead answer those questions. See if it doesn't help you become the leader you're meant to be. And to be the change you wish to see in the world.
