When Businesses Build Community, Change Follows

I was running a quick errand this morning when a simple sign outside Morel Ink stopped me in my tracks.

With the Pride and U.S. flags in the background, the message felt even more powerful.

"Build community. Change the world."

Those five words capture something I believe deeply.

Real change rarely starts with one person. It starts when people come together around shared values, a common purpose, and a willingness to invest in one another.

That's especially true for small businesses. When purpose-driven businesses choose collaboration over competition, they don't just strengthen their local communities—they create momentum for meaningful change.

Community isn't built by chance. It's built through relationships, trust, and showing up for each other, day after day. And that is what our certified benefit corporations are all about.

Thank you, Morel Ink, for the reminder that building community is some of the most important work we can do. And when we do it together, changing the world doesn't feel quite so impossible.
